Notes from Megameeting 14th December 2009
Attendees
Summary
Today's discussion was all spoken, rather than by typed chat. The starting point was Mark Conrad's document "Selected Mandatory Requirements in ISO 17021:2006" circulated on 8th December. Much of the discussion concerned the need for site visits, based on the analogy with auditing banks or online financial services organisations such as PayPal. In particular, the appropriate definition of "site" was discussed for this context.
Another issue was whether/how to vary the requirements of ISO 17021. A possible wording is: "the requirements of ISO 17021 apply, with the following amendments, exceptions or additions".
Actions
- DavidGiaretta to produce clean Word document with the proposed changes.
- TerryLongstreth to investigate how other audits work (e.g. US Financial Accounting Standards Board), particularly with reference to site visits.
- TerryLongstreth to suggest wording for references to ISO 17021.
- DavidGiaretta to set up matrix for selection of day for future meetings for period following Jan 21.
- DavidGiaretta to send email with date of next meeting (Jan 4)
- DavidGiaretta to speak to BSI about audit.
- DavidGiaretta if possible to get list of ISO 9000 Committee members. Then others could contact local folks from the ISO 9000 committee and pick their brains on process.
