Discussion
MarkConrad observed that for information security, there will be a limit to how much can be offered by compliance toolkits because of the differing requirements of national legislation.
BruceAmbacher noted that DRAMBORA, with its emphasis on risk assessment, is couched largely in negative terms. However the use of such a risk-based approach could be a way of operationalising the qualitative criteria of TRAC etc.
It was agreed that the TRAC document should be the baseline to which other initiatives are related. This make sense because TRAC is intended to be completely generic. If any conflicting statements are found in analysing other documents, they should be handled on a case-by-case basis.
HelenTibbo introduced the idea of "scenarios" for different types of repositories in different environments and with different expectations. There are some examples in the OAIS standard. It will be very useful to have templates for these scenarios, referring in particular to the Designated Communities.
The metrics that are developed should be accompanied by examples from different repository types. Some will be general, others highly specific.
KatiaThomaz suggested that InterPARES could offer useful examples.
HelenTibbo is going to attend a workshop on DRAMBORA at the end of May and will feed ideas from that into the ongoing work.
The next meeting will be in one week, on 2nd May.
